Abstract
This paper aims to assess the regional context of capital market development in Latvia since the restoration of independence. The article examines both equity and bond markets, highlighting the geographical location of all equity issuers, their distribution across statistical regions, and the correlation of the geographical share of issuers with the share of their respective regions in the overall economy. With few exceptions, listed companies' share correlates well with the share of the corresponding region in Latvia's total gross domestic product (GDP).
