Abstract
This paper briefly summarises the results of the surface water level and groundwater table observations that were performed in the Dviete floodplain area during several research projects in 2005–2015. The obtained results demonstrate that during the spring floods, the height of the water level in the Dviete floodplain is significantly influenced by its hydrological connectivity to the Daugava River. In contrast, during the summer and winter low-water periods, local weather conditions (precipitation, air temperature) that regulate formation of the surface and subsurface runoff conditions are prevalent.
